Getting it right first time: SafeLives conference 2015

I was told I was high risk but I didn't get much help. I talked to someone a couple of times but they didn't call me, I think they expected me to call them but I wasn't in the place to do that.

As more domestic homicide and serious case reviews show, we’re still not getting it right first time for families living with domestic abuse. Even when victims do come forward, many professionals don’t have the confidence or knowledge to get them the right support.

Over the last 10 years, alongside so many of you here today, we’ve transformed the response to high-risk domestic abuse. But there are still so many gaps to fill. That’s why, over the last year, we’ve thought carefully about the changes that need to happen. We’ve listened to victims and their families and consulted with the domestic abuse sector. Our goal is to make sure that all families can live in safety. To do it, we need to work together – and get it right first time.

Thanks to everyone who attended the conference. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Presentations and resources from all our speakers are now available to download.
